📝 Section 1 — Classroom Notes

What is Precision Farming?
It means using data for better crops. Farmers use tools to check soil. They save water and seeds this way.
Soil Health Maps
Maps show soil health with colors. Green means the soil is healthy. Yellow means it is fair. Red means it is poor.
Making Compost
Compost is made from waste. Collect food scraps and dry leaves. Mix them and add water. Wait for it to turn dark.
Bio-Fertilizer (LAB Culture)
LAB means good tiny living things. They help plants grow strong. We make LAB at home. Rice water is used for it.
Humidity Chamber
A humidity chamber keeps air wet. Baby plants need moist air. It helps seedlings grow well. We use plastic sheets for it.
Low Tunnel
A low tunnel covers small plants. It keeps them safe from cold. It also blocks strong wind. Farmers use cloth or plastic sheets.
Smart Irrigation
Drip pipes give water drop by drop. Sprinklers spray water like rain. Both methods save a lot of water.
Drones and Sensors
Drones fly over the farm. They take pictures of crops. Sensors check soil and water. This data helps farmers decide well.
GPS for Field Mapping
GPS shows the exact farm location. Farmers draw maps of their fields. Maps help plan what to grow. GPS makes farming very accurate.
Harvesting and Labelling
Harvest means picking ripe crops. Clean and sort the produce well. Put labels with name and date. Good labels help in selling fast.

Drip pipes give water drop by drop to plants.

Drone Farm Field Drones Watch the Farm

Drones fly over farms and take pictures.

A low tunnel keeps small plants safe from cold.

✏️ Section 3 — Worked Examples

Example 1: Reading a Soil Map

1Look at the soil health map.
2Find the colored areas on it.
3Green areas have healthy soil.
4Red areas need more compost.
Answer: Add compost to red zones first. Green zones are fine. Yellow zones need some care.

Example 2: Setting Up Drip Pipes

1Lay the main pipe along the field.
2Connect small tubes to each row.
3Turn on the water tap slowly.
4Check that each plant gets drops.
Answer: Drip pipes save water. Each plant gets just enough. Fix leaks if you see any.

Example 3: Making LAB Culture

1Wash rice and save the water.
2Keep the rice water in a jar.
3Wait for three to five days.
4Mix with equal amount of milk.
Answer: The top layer is LAB culture. Use it to feed the soil. It helps plants grow.

Good tiny living things from rice water.
Why use a humidity chamber?
It keeps air moist for baby plants.
How does drip irrigation work?
Water goes drop by drop to each plant.

✅ Answer Guide — Take-Home Handout

Part A — What is Precision Farming? (Suggested Answer)

Precision farming means using data, tools, and technology to farm in a smarter way — saving water, seeds, and fertilizer while growing better crops.

Part B — Soil Health Colors (Suggested Answers)

Green = Healthy soil (good to grow crops).  Yellow = Fair soil (needs some care).  Red = Poor soil (needs compost and treatment before planting).

Part C — Compost Steps (Suggested Answers)

Steps to make compost: 1. Collect food scraps and dry leaves. 2. Mix them together in a pile or bin. 3. Add a little water to keep it moist. 4. Wait 4–6 weeks until it turns dark and crumbly.

Part D — Smart Irrigation (Suggested Answers)

Two types: 1. Drip Irrigation — water drips drop by drop through pipes directly to each plant root (saves a lot of water). 2. Sprinkler Irrigation — water sprays like rain over the field.

Part E — Drones and GPS (Suggested Answers)

Drones: Fly over the farm and take photos/videos of crops to check their health. They can also spray fertilizer or pesticide evenly. GPS: Helps farmers draw exact maps of their fields and plan which area to plant what crop.
